Could not add configuration archive to the setup package

I've seen two other topics about this on the board and both say that updating to version 1.4.2 should fix the error but I am still receiving it even with the latest version (1.4.2.21). I've stripped down the installer to bare minimum functionality and am still getting the error. All I have filled in is the General, User Interface, Languages and Build tabs. Is there anything I should look at to see if I entered it incorrectly?

The 3 steps before the error and the error are:

Creating setup configuration files...
Creating setup configuration archive...
Creating setup...
ERROR: Could not add configuration archive to the setup package!

On build options, try with Compression method: Deflate and Compression Level: Normal

Hello from a new user. I experienced this issue with 1.4.2.21 on Windows 11-22H2.

Per other posts for the same issue, I tried running as admin, building with every available compression method, and placing a copy of z7a.exe in the bin folder. None of that worked.

What did work: In the properties of ifbuilderenvx86.exe, set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows 8.

Hope this helps someone else!

Thank you, Irdluis.
Changing the compression method to 'Deflate' worked for me when I had this error, even with the compression level set to Max. :D

P.S. I may have spoke too soon. After recompiling the package a couple of times, this vexing error showed up again, even with the new settings. Could something be lingering in the Windows registry after uninstalling everything? I don't know, but I rebooted my computer and started over from square one. When I got to the InstallForge part again, this time I set the Compression method to 'Deflate' the Compression Level to 'Normal', and let it do its thing. For whatever reason, it worked.

I don't think we have a good handle on what the core problem is, or what the best solution would be at this point. It's all a bit hit-or-miss. But when it works, InstallForge is a beautiful thing.

A final suggestion when InstallForge throws an error like this on Windows..

I have found that the build may fail two or three times in a row (sometimes throwing different errors) before succeeding.
Try mashing the 'Build' button a few times.

-MASH-
>> Error
-MASH-
>> Error
-MASH-,
>> Build Complete, No Errors.
